how do you convert a shoutcast stream into a mp3

how do you convert a shoutcast stream into a mp3. i been told i need to provide my shoutcast link with a mp3 extension any idea on how i do this as i only have the standard .asx .rem those kind of links. so how do i convert them into a .mp3 link. its for a mobile app

Do a quick Google search on the extensions file you want to use and there are hundreds of links showing you how you do it. Most links are simply you shoutcast IP and Port number. You can edit them with any good text editor and save them as .pls .asx .m3u etc ...

if you download the file instead of opening it (right click, save target) then open it with a text editor it is a play list (i know .pls is in plain text) and it will have probably one file name... that is your mp3. if you have a fallback feed, then the stream is first the fall back is second...  if you have an intro file that will be before the stream in the list.

this is the message i keep getting

Please check if address is correct for station. Address must point to a streaming server, not to .m3u file, etc.
If you use SHOUTcast server try to add to MP3 audio streaming url "/" at the end


the links ive tries is http://myip:8000.m3u

ive tried the medial links in the cast control control panel and even /listen.pls
with no sucess

so http://123.456.789.012:8000/;stream.mp3

and it worked thanks guys
