Here is a link to a youtube video showing a RadioDJ setup and some of the processes involved.

http://youtu.be/K_QnWwd9Bfk

I made this video because I never see many videos about RadioDJ on youtube.  Hope this inspires more users to post their configurations.

Please comment on what you think of the video.

Thanks!!

Hi everyone! I'm new here and I LOVE RADIODJ!

I'm in the process of setting up a community radio station and I'm still working out a few kinks. I was hoping to have everything run on one machine, but I'm struggling a little with the addition of my mixer. For now, I've solved the problem by using a second machine as an encoder- a tiny Acer net top. It does the trick, but I'm sure it will work better with more memory. I'm also sure I'll find the answer somewhere here in the Forums! I've added a Mac to my setup to run a recording program called Reaper, which I'll use to do all my production work on. Still have a lot to do, building playlists, recording local interviews, creating jingles and sweepers and more.

I thought I'd post a picture of my set up here, to show where I am now. Remember, it's NOT finished yet!

Thanks for creating such great software and providing us with an open forum where like-minded RadioDJ users can learn from other, share what we know and make friends!   - Jim

NICE! :D .... true what you said about the monitor kill and red light sign. I have 2 broadcast mixers from Eela Audio the SBM90 series. I am very interested in the cassier board. Is this an USB thing or something else?
Running 3 editions V1.8.2 at www.salto.nl and v1.8.2 at radio251.nl. ( NOW with 2 live studio's! )

Thanks!  Yea I spent hours getting everything the way I want it...   still not finished but close!  I love having a legit studio...

So my mixer is a mackie pro fx 12 channel v2 board, has usb out and in. Mixer was $250 @ Sam Ash www.samash.com

"Mixer Buddy" from Broadcast Controls is $150 from Broadcast Supply link is below.  It is not usb, it has a power supply connection,  (4) 1/4" inputs for mic feeds from your insert connections from the mixer, (MIXER HAS TO HAVE INSERT CONNECTIONS ON EACH MIC CHANNEL) then audio in RCA which is your monitor feed out of the board and then another input feed for live air out if you want to switch between the sources, then a rca out which goes to your amp in your studio which is connected to your monitor speakers.

Heres there broadcast consoles, these are true consoles and dont need the mixer buddy:

Heres the mixer buddy:
http://www.bswusa.com/Consoles-Broadcast-Tools-MixerBuddy-P8243.aspx

SPECS:
The Broadcast Tools Mixer Buddy offers four channels of microphone control, monitor source selection and monitor muting, allowing popular Live Music audio mixers to be used in a broadcast and/or production environment.

Mixer Buddy adds five important functions to the mixer: It provides convenient On/Off control of up to four microphones, it mutes the monitor audio when a microphone is in use, it allows the user to monitor either the mixers program audio or an external sources (such as off-the-air audio), it allows the user to adjust the monitor level locally, and it provides control of On The Air studio warning lights.

Broadcast Tools Mixer Buddy Features:
• Convenient On/Off control of up to four microphones
• Mutes the monitor audio when a microphone is in use (may be disabled for each channel)
• Selects between two monitor sources
• Allows the user to adjust the monitor level locally
• Provides one SPDT relay for control of the On The Air studio warning lights
• Optional mounting in a counter-top and/or turret

Thanks so much for the vids... Really need to video my setups at some point. Best I can offer are some pics:

Livecasting suite at Casa McCormick. by Radio Hanna, on Flickr

Automated system updated look by Radio Hanna, on Flickr

Mini Rig in action at 4H Beef Show n' Sale by Radio Hanna, on Flickr

These are our main configurations. The livecasting suite in our home originally ran occasionally for an hour on Mixlr and then we got talked into starting the school station. Now when I mix live from home I'm running through RadioDJ on the system at the far right (top picture).  The second picture down is our automated system that runs 24/7, but has a mic and mixer in case I want to work from it. The bottom pic is typical of our briefcase systems volunteers/students use at events.

Switching between the main and remote systems is now completely handled by EVENTS configured in RadioDJ. A bit on that here...

The xkeys keyboard allows you to assign short cut keys to all radio dj functions.  This even includes things that dont have a short cut key by mimicking mouse movements and clicks, I have used it now for a year and I absolutely love it and wouldnt do a show without it.   Secondly  you had said your interested in the cart, its a ELO touch screen on a mini pc that runs a free cart software called DAC cart by Charly Davy software.   You can pick up a ELO touch screen pretty cheap on ebay...  PM me if you have questions.

WOW...I've really just started using the forum to get up to speed with the great possibilities of RDJ, after spending many hours of viewing YT. I discovered Radio Hanna a few weeks ago and noticed this week that you are an integral part of RH.
I would really like to know how you automated switching remote LIVE events in RDJ...I followed your link on RH, but the soundcloud files didn't play; would you mind sharing? Thank you.

Apologies for the delay in responding -- I missed seeing this topic. I didn't realize the Soundcloud links had broken, so I fixed the article. Here it is again with working sound files:

http://www.radiohanna.ca/automated-switchovers/

Switching back and forth from the main system to the remote location and back works quite well and our listeners are used to it now. We previously tried sending a stream from the remote location to the studio system, but that turned out to be a support nightmare and there was no way to effectively troubleshoot it with volunteers on site. We now have an event launching the BUTT encoder that is set to connect automatically. We have a second event that stops the butt.exe process, disconnecting the system from the streaming server. We used to use "the encoder that shall not be named", but moved away from it after official support was dropped by Marius.

Hope this helps.
