Question regarding sound card / interface

I would like to hook my RDJ to a regular broadcast mixing console.  I need some advice as to the sound card or interface.  I see from the sounds card setting in RDJ that it's meant to be used with a 5.1 sound card...and I can do that...but I would rather use a multi-channel interface.  My question is this... will RDJ recognize the various in and outs of a of such an interface?
