IMPORTANT - ANTIVIRUS ALERT!
« on: June 14, 2014, 12:12:46 PM »
It looks like AVAST is doing crazy things again. Trying to download the latest version with a running avast (v2014.9.0.2018) warns me that a file from the archive (RadioDJ.exe) is infected and it closed the connection. I disabled the antivirus, downloaded the archive, scanned again and surprise now avast reports that the same archive is clean.

This shows how serious antivirus avast is...

I reported this behavior a few months a go to avast team, but off course that they didn't bothered to answer me. One article about this avast issue can be read here: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2427180,00.asp

Sadly i don't have a solution for this and avast users will have to deal with it. I really don't have anything to fix since the same file is reported as infected on the web and once downloaded avast tells that is clean.

I don't have time for this game, i will not use avast, from which i switched more than one year a go for these kind of problems.

If anyone searches for a far better alternative (starting from free), give a chance to AVG which is much more resource friendly.

I have used AVG free edition since about 2007 (Way before I knew RDJ existed) and it has been fine for me, no problems with RDJ whatsoever. Perhaps that is an alternative solution?  :-\

We turned off the "File Shield" in Avast and it stopped trying to delete the .exe file.

I tweeted Avast about this issue the other day No one has bothered replying. Just tweeted them a link to this topic.

It's a really small annoyance because we all know that RDJ is not infected with Malware or Trojans.

Interestingly, my copy of Avast seems to like RC7.

Go figure....  ::)

Avast has been causing me alsorts of issues today.  :'(

If anyone is using Avast virus database 11502-0 and is having issues with RadioDJ 1.7.6 (audio skipping etc..) then can I suggest you exclude the RadioDJ program folder from avast scanners otherwise it might just cause you issues.

It's just taken 3 hours to realise it was Avast at fault when my audio started skipping and buffering. It's also a good idea to stop it scanning your music folders as well.

Getting a user reporting Norton thinks there's a WS.reputation.1 problem

Yet again folks this is a False/Positive there is no malware/viruses in RadioDJ.

Best advice we can give is exclude the RadioDJ program folder from being scanned by Norton if that still doesn't work try another Antivirus solution.

Hearing again of people having trouble installing/using RadioDJ alongside Norton Antivirus.  :bash:

Solution: Add the RadioDJ program folder to the list of files/folders you don't want scanning by Norton and it should hopefully stop any issues trying to use RadioDJ.

We can assure you that RadioDJ program files are perfectly safe and virus/malware free despite what Symantec might want you to believe.

TIP: Use a better antivirus solution Norton is KNOWN to hog system resources and slow things down.
