RadioDJ plays all night and just freezes Help

Hi all,

I have radio DJ latest installed on a stand alone PC with nothing else on it, with a brand new install of windows 7 and all the updates etc. There is no antivirus running and windows updates disabled.

I have radio DJ set to auto DJ and have one category (music) and a sub category (music from the 1930s) full of good id3 tagged tracks, about 1000 each track about 3 to 4 mins long.

I have one event, a time announce track that plays at the top of the hour and another that plays out at 30 mins past the hour

It all runs well and fine, except overnight when it crashes and stops, so looking at the History Panel it stops, freezes and crashes (I get a windows "radiodj is not responding" message) around 8 to 9 am in the morning.

I have 3 track rotations in a row set to random, least played, random.

It is set to Auto DJ

I am streaming out with the latest plug in from some encoder.

I had a really bad time with SAM broadcaster and thought I would try RadioDJ.... Love the programme, but now I am ready to give up internet radio, so can you help before I give up on the whole idea?

Thanks in advance.

Marius

I would suggest you to try to stream with some encoder standalone to see if it happens again.

Thanks for the advice Marius,

I am now running some encoder stand alone and RadioDJ runs perfectly. some encoder is not so good as it does, after a time, drop out, and locks up and needs a reboot.

Is there any better encoders out there? or perhaps hardware encoders that can take audio from RDJ as a better solution?

You might try RadioCaster. There is a RadioCaster review by DJ Garybaldy.

Make sure you have these Visual basic files installed for smooth running of some encoder standalone http://baldyradio.com/downloads/visualbasic.zip

When it comes to Free encoding software you have a couple of choices

MBRecaster http://www.mbradio.it/en/mb-recorder/mb-recaster-free Limited to 4 encoders.
BUTT http://sourceforge.net/projects/butt/

If some encoder isn't working for you even after you've installed the Visual basic files have a try with  Edcast you can find a download of that here. http://djgarybaldy.co.uk/free-automation-software/

Otherwise there's the paid for stuff like Radiocaster  (which is pretty stable from what others are saying about it) that costs $39.99

Hi Folks,

Thanks for the great help, I am trying Butt encoder, (I like big butts and I cannot lie.... all sing now!) and so far its running well and seems stable, although I do get the occasional "skip" not drop out but like a vinyl record skipping grooves (remember them????) I'm guessing its the server doing that.

I'm using virtual audio cable and although a pain to setup I don't have a computer with a soundcard, but will get a usb one for monitoring with a mixer now my faith is restored with radioDJ (I'm an ex SAM user.... did I say user,? perhaps it should be loser! crap software!

Thanks Marius for developing this great radio player, and hope you continue to add more bells and whistles to this project.
