I tried to set it up to do skype call-ins.

I was following a video on youtube and I couldn't get it to work. In fact, RadioDJ froze. I had to reboot in safe mode and uninstall Banana before RadioDJ would work again

That sounds all rather strange are the drivers for your PC up to date? Do you have all .NET updates? Have you cleaned your temp files/registry with a program such as CCleaner  to stop the PC freezing?

As far as Voicemeeter goes that shouldn't be causing the computer to freeze crash I've not heard of anyone else saying its malfunctioned on them.  You might want to ask for help on their forums with that part.

How much RAM? What's the OS? If the PC doesn't have enough memory your going to run into issues. Are you sure its NOT Skype causing the crashing issues?

Does the problem still persist  with the normal version of Voicemeeter? http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Voicemeeter/index.htm

I use Skype on my station, so I doubt it's Skype...
Granted, I route everything through a hardware mixer, but no issues with Skype so far and I've been using it with RadioDJ for almost a year now.

Since Skype "keys" to your mic and headphone jacks on your computer, I route the headphone jack into my mixer, that gets the audio into the "mix" if you will.
All audio from the mixer routes into my Line In on the PC.
I have a mic routed into the mixer and I use the Line In as the input for Skype to pick up the mic audio.

I realize that using the Input button in RDJ is 'frowned upon' but I find that it works well to get the audio from the mixer into the stream. This may or may not work well for everyone, but it works well for me, so that's the way I do it.
This has the effect of allowing me to talk with the 'caller' both on air and off air with no interruptions.

how do you get skype through a hardware mixer?

I use a USB soundcard just for Skype and the output of that interface goes into a channel on the mixer.

I use an Aux send to send audio to the input of the soundcard that RadioDJ uses. Doing it that way allows me to send whatever is connected to the mixer into RadioDJ.

A 2nd Aux send is used to send audio to the input of the Skype USB audio interface. That 2nd send let's me control what the Skype caller hears. You can do it with one Aux send and set all software inputs to one or the other.

New piece of software being launched by the makers of Voicemeeter https://twitter.com/VB_Audio/status/789154977373626368

Sounds very exciting must do a test and see whats what when its released...

The new MACRO features of VoiceMeeter Banana seem very robust.  Here's a tutorial I found for Making a Mic Mute Button which would work well for those using VoiceMeeter as their virtual mixer with RadioDJ.
