Windows Defender suddenly decided RadioDJ.exe is Malware
« on: July 12, 2015, 07:47:07 AM »
I tried to launch RadioDJ only to find out my system removed the RadioDJ.exe file because it believes it is this specific Trojan/Malware file:

Win32/Skeeya.C!plock

I've never had this happen before.  I even deleted all of the old files and re-downloaded 1.8.2 but it still detects RadioDJ.exe as that Trojan file.  I'm well aware that there is no Malware or Viruses within RadioDJ, but it struck me as strange that it just suddenly happened.  I have now excluded the RadioDJ file from Windows Defender and the problem is solved.  I was wondering, though, has anybody else seen RadioDJ.exe detected as this specific Trojan file?

Sounds like an updated definition for Windows Defender is the culprit.  All good, though!  Thanks you guys for confirming my suspicions.

RadioDJ is executable is obfuscated in order to protect its code and many antivirus programs don't like that.

My Windows 8.1 system actually shut down the RadioDJ application and cleaned every occurrence of RadioDJ.exe that existed on my machine.

Yelp, The strange thing is, Microsoft Security  Essentials deleted RadioDJ exe from the 1.8.2 folder but did not bother the RadioDJ exe folders of 1.81 and 1.80 that still reside in C:, and yes each of the previous editions still work.

Marius, I trust you and your work explicitly, but since it only took out the exe file in version 1.8.2, is there a way something could have slid in on the last update without detection?  Sorry, had to ask.

This is what Microsoft had to say about deleting the file.

I am also running Radiodj v1.8.2 on a windows 8.1 machine & have not seen this problem. Just to make sure I did a manual update and scan with Windows Defender & Malwarebytes.  I also did a custom scan of  my Radiodj folder. Everything is fine (so far).

As an FYI I am not running any extra plugins. I use the Edcast Standalone for streaming.
Is it possible the problem could be from one of the plugins? Just a thought.

Perhaps someone who has tried to install RDJ 1.8.2 got angry and "reported" RDJ 1.8.2 as infected !     As all older versions of RDJ 1.8.* work fine. >:D

I got same error - suddenly middle of the day was silence in the air  :(

windows just delete radiodj.exe

I know (hope) that is not any trojan and check this windows defender where was this trojan warning and enable to restore this. After that work's fine!

But just strange while all others version was never any problems!

I hope that was first and last what defender will do!

I repeat, the RadioDJ executable is OBFUSCATED in order to (try) to protect the application from reverse engineering and this can raise false positives.

Think you might need to do an article about this on the main website Marius.

It seems several different AV software programs have had this issue. Not sure how many users might have been affected by it.

Yep, MS Essentials has removed my favorite software  RadioDJ.exe from the original 1.8.2 zip file as well as my main RadioDJ folder in C: Without giving me an option to question the move.   It just decided to remove it and popped up an apply screen.  Will re-download and crossing fingers.  Just happened sometime overnight.

EDIT:  Did as suggested from others in the post and changed Settings on MS Essentials to NOT DO ANYTHING in the RadioDJ Folder and back in business. :ok:

Not happy with MS at the moment! >:D
Cheers
