Here's what I do:

I first got the link for the news cast, then once I have the link, I set up IDM to download the file from that link and save it to my "News" folder.
I then created an event in RDJ to load that file (news.mp3) at the top of the hour from the "News" folder.

With this system, I always have a new 'news.mp3' ready for playout at the top of the hour and I don't have to move files around or anything like that, it's fully automated...

that might work for me....as I manually DL the files right now (it's only a once a week maintenance) and automate the import. the thing though is that some file names vary, so if you could automate importing anything in a particular folder, that would be the best solution.

You can do that with IDM, it allows for downloading multiple files and storing them in different locations.
You can also schedule downloads in IDM, just enter the link and the location to store the file, then set the date and time you want to download the file(s) and it will "do it's thing"...

This really is an awesome piece of software, and using Internet Download Manager along side it makes things even better.  ;D

I'm trying to do the same for a talk station.  For some reason, I can't get the play latest from folder to work and I can't find out what I'm doing wrong.  I select the option, then add the folder by clicking on the plus sign.  Everything sets up perfectly.  I can even hit the cue button in the track manager and it plays, but if I put it in the playlist, it's blue and when it comes time to fire off, it skips right over it and goes to the next item in the list.  AutoDJ is on, but I have this in an event.  Even manually inserting it, doesn't work.  What am I missing?
Thanks!

Are you downloading the audio file or just connecting to the stream?

Good morning, Capt.  I'm downloading the file and placing it in a folder.  Already have the folder preset as the "Newest from Folder" selection.

Is the file always named the same, or does the file name change with each download?

We are working with syndicated show as well. Most of the shows come to us automatically through Dropbox or Google Drive.
Other show are automatically downloaded by a Download Manager. Works on a schedule, so that's ok.
The shows have the same filename every week and overwrite the old files. So far so good.

The only problem we have, is with the changing filenames. If the files are named:
show-week09-hour1-part1.mp3
show-week09-hour1-part2.mp3
show-week09-hour1-part3.mp3
etc...
RadioDJ cannot find the files next week as the filenames are changed then.

It would help a lot when RadioDJ could read variable characters in the filenames, for example:
show-week**-hour1-part1.mp3
show-week**-hour1-part2.mp3
show-week**-hour1-part3.mp3
etc...

Maybe it's a good future feature for Marius to build it in the next release?

Cant.  Not always the same name or I would be able to use Variable Duration File.
