Unable to load music library (FAIL READING FILE)

70vibe-FM

Hi there all,
I have been using Radio DJ for more than a year however my music drive crashed and needed to replaced, When I updated my music library I was unable to import the music directory. I am getting the message (FAIL READING FILE) when I try to reload the library. Is there something I am missing or doing wrong?  :'( I have reloaded the mysql data... updated to v1.8.2.0
Thanks
Mark

Make sure that the sound card is correctly set. Most of the time these kind of "error reading file..." errors are caused by the sound card. If the sound card is correctly set in rdj options, also try to update the sound drivers.

Finnaly found the problem which was sound card related. Thanks for the heads up which did solve  the problem!

Hi All

I too have had this problem, but I believed it was down to the fact that the majority of the PCs in the offices are Macs so create some extra files, I'm now wondering if this may not be the case, although the numbers of tracks that is about right for the number of tracks I was expecting to see in the database

I also have this problem for the past six months or so and I'm glad you brought this to the forum. Initially I thought it was a the database so I repaired it which didn't resolve the problem. I further deleted and reinstalled MySQL database yet the problem persisted. I eventually concluded it was the PC so I got a new one and did fresh install but it is the same problem.

After reading this article, I went back to check the Options-Sound Cards in RadioDJ and everything seem but still the problem persist. Each time I try importing tracks it reads: Unable to load music library (FAIL READING FILE). The handful of track I've got in my database only two tracks get loaded into RDJ and the rest doesn't.

I will grateful if anyone would please help me resolve this problem.

Thanks.

What format are the files in?

Hi Capt.

The formats are MP3 & WMA.

Everything was fine and it's worked for over a year till about six months ago when suddenly things began to fall apart.

Capt_Fuzzy

Well, if the files worked before then the issue may be a hardware problem...
You might try a defrag, if that don't work, your hard drive may be going bad.

I had this problem over the weekend, and was able to quickly and easily resolve it by restarting RDJ, I believe that the problem that I faced was caused by both RDJ and Art Downloader at the same time.

Maybe the same will be the same for you and a restart of the software will help :)

As stated earlier, the problem happened on my old computer so I brand new computer and then did a fresh install of RadioDJ but the same problem persist as it was with the old computer.

Music files are stored NAS Server with raid 5 configuration. The computer can read files direct from the NAS but not RadioDJ.

I really am frustrated at this point  :'(

I'm curious, have you tried running RadioDJ as administrator?

Are you running Windows 10 by any chance? I know one of my installs had issues detecting network storage.

Marius

I confirm it, on windows 10 if you run the program as administrator it will not find files on mounted network drive, but if you browse the NAS drive from network it should work. It must be related to the windows 10 UAC because on 7 worked just fine.

No sir, I am running Windows 8.1. I should also mention that I was running Windows 7 the first problem occurred: Unable to load music library (FAIL READING FILE), Rotations wouldn't work and normal playing or even imported streams stopped working.

And yes, I have tried running RJ as administrator but as Marius said, the mounted network drive could not be located.

I really appreciate your response and I hope you'd find me a solution as this problem is driving me crazy, especially after buying a new computer that is now sitting redundant.
