You're very welcome.  Yes, please let us know what they say.  I've been hesitant to recommend them, since I don't know what their policy is, if any.

Still no news from TruNews.

I got a reply from Sky News and they also say a big NO. That's what they say:

"Sky News invests heavily in its news coverage to ensure our customers are given the best possible service. International stations which use our bulletins all pay a license fee and therefore I cannot allow you to use this content free of charge.
I respectfully request that you refrain from using the bulletin."

@djslim, sorry at the moment we are still searcing for a good and free service... keep reading

Still no news from TruNews.

I must apologize, Plauri.  My station has actually been off the air while I'm building a new studio, so I was completely unaware that, sometime in the past few weeks, TruNews has discontinued ALL of its newscasts!  However, we may have a reprieve.  I just received this from the former Mutual Radio News founder, Leo Ashcraft...

In September 2015 - Mutual Radio News was sold to TruNews from Rick Wiles. Mr. Wiles decided to end both Trunews and Mutual Radio News. While its still unclear why this decision was made, it has left over 200 radio affiliates stranded for news.

I founded Mutual Radio News in early 2015. It grew quickly, but I had too many irons in the fire and was experience health problems related to my previous heart attacks at the end of 2014. I was unable to find reliable help and still continue the high standard I require. Trunews, founded in 1999 with over 100 existing affiliates seemed to be the perfect option for continuing the Mutual Radio News service. Unfortunately, for whatever reason Wiles ran Mutual radio news for three months and suddenly pulled the plug on both services.

Now things have been changing rapidly. Since leaving Art Bell's program shortly before he quit himself, I have been developing a long form talk radio network which has been successful. This network has developed into an opportunity to restart the news service. Jeremy Scott and his spouse are moving to Texas at the end of February. He currently hosts the main Show - Dark Thirty Radio. He brings many years of experience with him from KXL in portland and will also head the news service. In addition his connections from the Portland radio market will assist him with producing the daily news service.

Sometime in early March, the news service will return! The service will provide the 1,3 and five minute commercial and non-commercial versions as before. There will be several voices on these casts, including mine.

At this point - I am reaching out to you as a former affiliate in hopes you will consider using the service. Your response will help us gauge steps we need to take to get this going again and move closer to an official launch date.

If you still have the download service installed - leave it in place. You will likely need to make no changes once we are back in operation!

I will update you soon on our progress. And thank you for your support!

So, the uncertainty of a TruNews affiliate policy has been replaced with the original MRN service!  This is a promising development.  In just a few weeks, it seems you WILL be able to become an affiliate!

Yeah, this was discussed in another thread and the author got the same reply, a big, fat 'NO' as well...

I get mine from NPR News (National Public Radio News) and they don't have the same "qualms" about their news being "rebroadcast" so long as it is left in it's entirety.
They have files as short as 2 minutes (I think, I use the 5 min update every hour.), up to a full hour (if ya really want to go that route), they cover "world news" but it's a US based agency so I don't know if that will help any...

Hi Capt, where did you find these info about their rebroadcast and the lenght of the news? I just found the 5 minutes news

As I'd mentioned earlier, after the initial post, they used to have a 2 minute newscast.
The shortest now is the 5 minute newscast, sorry for the confusion...  ;D

Just to update my post above regarding the Mutual News Service...

Unfortunately, it seems Mr. Ashcraft can't decide what he wants to be when he grows up.  He did re-start his Mutual news service, only to again pull the plug after a couple of months, leaving affiliates with no news (most of them commercial stations playing bartered spots).  He immediately followed this venture with a "weather service," to record localized forecasts.  Mr. Ashcraft then got tired of that after a couple of months and quit, again, leaving his paid affiliates high and dry.

Now, he's promoting himself as a voiceover service.

Noticing the pattern, I told him we'd be happy to use him for liners.... if we could rely on him BEING there for any length of time.  He was batting 000.  Instead of explaining himself, he private messaged me with profanity.

Fortunately, I have since learned there are real (established) networks out there, with content (including news) for Part 15 stations.

Verified FREE for Part 15 use

Some suppliers may require you to sign-up and/or sign affidavits, but it's FREE and you don't have to worry about them going away.

Yes Major in the end I opted for VOA news. They broadcast a 5 and 2 minute headlines, I have choosen the last one. 5 minutes are really too much to me, and I must say they are a bit too much focused on Trump, but it's free and they are reliable. I had to sign up some papers with them and after a week of writing mails I could start broadcasting their news. Not bad after all.

But what's going to happen to VOA and NPL now that "Agent Orange" has cut all funding?

I was considering switching to one of them but now I'm stuck with a "wait and see" attitude

If you want to have news on your station, search for a cheap solution ( DUH ) but keep in mind that there is allways a catch. I use World News Company and they provider free news in dutch. The catch, they call out the website of WNC and you only have 3 messages, updated 3 times a day without the weekends.

Allmost all the news providers cost money. The only reason, it takes a lot of time to setup the news and select what is realy important. What builds up the cost is how much you want. More messages with weather and during the weekends, will cost a lot, up to 300 to 700 euro a month!

Still want news with no costs? Decide if you realy need the news. If you don't realy need it, let it go. Still want it? Try reading it yourself. Yes it is a lot of work but if you only record an hour a day with multiple messages as seperate tracks, you can create the news that is different every hour.

I investigated and asked them. I'll tell you what: the streaming news link you see from Bbc and Sky news are ONLY for personal use, that is on your own pc at home. You are not allowed to rebroadcast them (they told me, by mail (Sky) and by phone (Bbc)), but if you can afford 5000/year pounds + Vat for Sky news (2 minutes lenght updated every hour) and "only" 1200/year pounds + Vat for Bbc news (1 minute lenght updated every hour) than you can use their headlines.
