Hello guys. I've noticed again that many tracks in my db getting disabled without any reason that i know. Two days ago i had 4200 tracks disabled and i enabled them. Today i saw again and i had 550 tracks disabled. Does anyone know what the cause could be?

Valdis

There is only one reason why RadioDJ is disabling tracks - when files are unavailable. This can happen if external USB drive disconnects to save power or because of network issues if files are on a mapped network share.
I am, therefore I think.

Thanks for your reply!!! My radio station is 24 hours on air and all the tracks are in an external HDD. If there are issues with network or drive, playout should drop down too which has never happened. I haven't checked though if tracks that get disabled have an issue (long name etc.) It is not easy as they are too many :(

Not necessarily, files are buffered into RAM and page file. Most likely your hdd enters into sleep mode (maybe when you play a longer track) and when the programs tries to access a file it cannot, because the hdd needs some time to recover, but on second or third track the hdd is online again and the other files can be played, so you end up each time with a few disabled files.

I'll have to remember this trick when someone else posts about tracks being disabled.... Never thought about telling the hard drive to stay permanently on.

I've had a number of applications over the years that were very sensitive to sleeping drives and devices- especially network adapters. One of the first things I do with drives and Network Interface Cards is go into the device manager and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." Saves a ton of headaches.

We used to have a lot of headaches  with tracks getting disabled, its a shame we can not turn that feature off. Our problems are caused when something happens to to our file server it causes the entire library to be disabled which is awkward when you have a 4kw FM transmitter hanging off your studio and you have dead air for 15 seconds before the EMS kicks in  :'(

In any means our file server has been happy since we moved it to a virtual machine.

With multiple studios we need all our content on demand in ANY studio and to know what songs have been played so our database and file server is stored on an internal server without any internet access.

So I'm having the same issue.. my Radio Dj setup is running on a Windows 2012 R2 server so the hard drive sleep feature is turned off by default so that is not my issue.. I've adjusted my Track rotation rules several times to the point where they are set to 5 min (same track) and 10 min (same artist).  i've unchecked all rotations so that they are not using the rotation rules.... and when I go to the track manager and manually select the disabled files and re-enable them, I can literally watch the files disable themselves.. Radio dj is a cool software and I like it but MAN.. .this can be a bit frustrating.. if anyone can assist, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks,

First, please don't post your questions on old forum threads.

Rotation rules have nothing to do with disabled tracks. Lowering them is just avoiding consequences. Have you actually made sure the files of disabled tracks are there and have not been moved? Go to track manager, double click a disabled track and if you see message window saying "Selected track cannot be found!", that's the cause of your issue.

You may try to relocate tracks by opening UTILITIES > RELOCATE TRACKS, but that will help only if the files are still there, have same names and are in similar folder structure.

My apologies, if I posted in the incorrect location, I'm somewhat new to the forum and I noticed that the heading of this thread seemed very similar to what I was experiencing, at least by the title name it did, hence my reasoning to post here.  But no need to blast me because of it.. again, my apologies.. my only reasoning that I posted about the rotation rules was because of what someone mentioned in this thread or a previous thread of similar subject and nature and just wanted to share my troubleshooting steps with hopes of eliminating unneeded back and forth banter about steps that I've already tried... as for your suggestion, I attempted what you suggest and yes my files are in the correct location and nothing has been moved..

Have you tried using UTILITIES > VERIFY TRACKS after enabling automatically disabled tracks?

Here's the deal with that.. I did the relocate track BEFORE in manually renabled them. and it said that it found like 11060.. I'm re-enabling them again and then going to run the relocate again and see if that does anything..

The relocation window says "Found X files in target folder." and that number includes files of any type, not just music. After finding all files RadioDJ goes over all track entries from `songs` database table and, if path of track entry is not found, file list is searched for matching file name. If file name is found in list of all files, RadioDJ updates the track entry in database using found path.
