It really depends on what you need. As far as RDJ is concerned you can also use voice meter banana: http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Voicemeeter/banana.htm

Myself I just ordered a Behringer UPHORIA series sound card. That has to be the cheapest on the market.
The second cheap choice would be a Focusrite scarlet series.
I would look for a card that has the inputs and outputs that you need and support for ASIO drivers.

But like i said. It really depends on what you need.

If it is for using the output, you can use the normal on board soundcard. This doesn't matter if you are streaming. If it is for the line input, than even Voicemeter doesn't help if you have a normal audio input. If you want to have a better audio input, you could think about an USB input board like http://www.music-group.com/Categories/Behringer/Computer-Audio/Audio-Interfaces/UCA202/p/P0484
Running 3 editions V1.8.2 at www.salto.nl and v1.8.2 at radio251.nl. ( NOW with 2 live studio's! )

Guys, thank you both for your inputs and advices but I have purchased Audigy Rx 7.1 which is working much better than one onboard (from the quality perspective) however I'm still suffering  from having my stream cuts off every 1 hour +/- it happen gradually after one hour the quality drops down and down until it stops, I had that with my onboard sound card and still I  having it with my new sound card, I think the problem is not with the sound card of my computer but maybe my harddrive harddrive issue ,  please advice !

This is most likely a network issue.

Does the drop out happen if you listen to RDJ output locally? My bet is that RDJ works flawlessly.
Then its either a problem of your upload speed (some isp can have problems) or the broadcast server download speed. Maybe somewhere in between.

How do you stream? You are not using any torrents or something like that are you? what is your internet upload speed?

I don't think the problem with my streaming as my internet speed is super fast "150 MB", I'm using Butt for streaming and the problem starts locally as well, it happens when the song progress red line stops from moving , and some time the same song keeps repeating the last or the beginning of the song!

Filip83

So what you say is that if you just listen to the physical sound card output you experience the same problems as when you stream?

150mb is that your upload speed per second?

What is Butt?

What you mean by "same song keeps repeating the last or the beginning of the song"

What is your PC spec. How big is your database? Does it happen with specific tracks only?
Are you running something in the background?  Antivirus scan or something else that uses disk / system resources?

Try this: options > general > program priority > above normal

OK. I checked my internet speed, and it's 300 Mbit/s , Butt is a software I use for streaming like A******t , for the songs that either repeat a portion of the song or whole song, is another error, I'm using computer Intel  i7 , RAM 8 GB   3,40 GH ,  runing Windows 10 64-bit. The database I installed it a few months ago, but I don't think it's too big, I don't have too many materials on it , well of course I'm using antivirus on my computer (Avast), do you want to say that the antivirus is doing all that ?

Sorry, but what do you mean by that ?

I think its best if you start a new topic as this has nothing to do with the sound card.

What version of RDJ u running?
As far as song repeating this should not happen if you use artist and track separation. Unless you run some weird events that would load 2 instances of the same track.

At this point It seems to me that you have a number of problems that may not be related to each other. Have you check the audio files that seem to repeat "portions" as you put it? What happens if you play the same track in winamp or any other audio player.

Do this problems happen when you listen to the physical audio output of RDJ? NOT TROUGH YOUR STREAM.
It could be a "Butt" problem maybe...

BUTT is short for the name of the streaming program, Broadcast Using This Tool by Daniel Nöthen.    ???
