Hi

Is there a way in DJ to level out the volume levels between different sound files being played. Also when I do a live announcement I come across louder that music etc.

Thanks

Gil

No, but thought there may have been a VST plugin I could have used with encoder. I use Radiocaster

Many of us use MP3Gain, a non-destructive application that adds tags to each track that tell RadioDJ (and some other applications) what level to play a track. Works like a charm.

Yes, I use MP3Gain, too, and have since launching my station over 9 years ago.  Its default gain adjustment is to 89db, but that's a little quiet for my taste.  I've worked extensively over the years with MP3 files and have found that a gain setting of 91db will pull 99.9% of over-modulated tracks out of clipping territory while keeping the volume at a good, usable level.  Just so you know.

Personally, I use Adobe AUdition, and run a batch file on all my music as I import it.

Clip restoration>Normalize to -1dB>save file to my RadioDJ music directory.

What about FLACs ? Mp3Gain doesn't recognize this format

DJ Garybaldy

Just doing a quick Google Search on volume levelling FLAC files came up with a few suggestions.

You can also use stereotool as a plugin. That works fine for me with different tracks. No conversion on the tracks needed like MP3 gain ;-)
