the music can not be reduced?
Yep, it can, only in another way, by the input button, connect no microphone to the PC.
Adjust the mixing setting in OPTIONS >> options >>auto DJ. (lower the settings to 2 or 1)
Now when you press the input button the sound will reduced.
I don't know where you like to use it for, but it's a way.

All great here. The only issue I am still having is the DB backup. Otherwise I guessing I will have to redo the TuneIN API setup since it is not working here.

To avoid having to do this every upgrade, just delete the XML files in the plugins folder. This will save the prior Tune In information.

I used to have to do the same thing never realized there were more XML file in different folders. :D

Great !
The display of intro time in the slots is a function that I always wished, without daring to ask :)

Thanks !

PS: I don't know where to post that...
You should disable keyboard shortcuts when notes tab text area has focus.
You can't imagine the mess when I start typing in the note tab !  :hihi:

Should this release work with .Net framework 4 ? I have 1.8.1 installed on an Old XP machine, wich runs very good,  however, I can Not upgrade to 1.8.2. It simply doesn't work. (RadioDJ has encountered a problem and needs to close)
On Win7 it runs like a charm!

As far as I'm aware .NET 3.5 is all that's usually required. What happens if you run it from a fresh install?

Out of curiousity what antivirus software do you use?

Thanks for your reply DJ Garybaldy!
I do not use any antivirus on this machine. It has WinXP SP3 with .Net Framework 4.0 and RDJ1.8.1 works flawlessly. On my laptop with Win7, I upgraded to RDJ 1.8.2 and it runs OK on Win7, but on the XP machine, I absolutely can not get it to work. ???
From a fresh install I get the same problem; Database setup gives an error, and starting RDJ 1.8.2 also gives an error

Thanks for the work Marius, iam not upgrade still running with 1.7.6.0 with the extra search tab to play jingels (it's not posible to do anymore)

if you have time can you make a extra tab for jingels than i can update again to all new functions.

Greetings from Luxembourg

I like the new Details view with this version by clicking the blue "i" icon. It brings up a card populated with additional information about a track, if you have so entered in Track Manager. Nice.

Regarding .NET version 3.5.  I recall seeing that in XP updates a while back.  So you might want to try manually running the Windows XP update engine (egads, if that's possible anymore), and see if it shows up.  I think when I was running XP, two versions of .NET were installed. The version 3.5 and 4 of the framework.  Otherwise, I'm sure it can't hurt to remove and reinstall them again to overwrite any corrupted files.

Casper: If possible can you start a new topic in the 1.7+ part of the forums giving as many details as you can about the error messages you are getting. We may be able to help diagnose it better.

Dumb scanners, they still do not know that rdj does not contain a virus or trojan.

think they are jealous of such a beautiful program.

The only thing they can give is a false positive, they'll never learn. The FOOLS.

If it is possible in F-Secure turn off the radio DJ folder as safe so it does not get scanned

It's a False positive exclude the RadioDJ folder from being scanned by your AV software.

Just got this error today. Very odd.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Today, after a successful migration to 1.82 yesterday my stream stopped suddenly playing. So I wanted to start RadioDJ again (it was totally closed), but it was removed by Microsoft Security Essentials. I have now excluded the radiodj folder for scanning, but it is a little weird off course. The older version (was still on 1.71 something) played for months without 1 interruption.

Hi Marius,

Updated the RadioDJ a couple of weks ago to 1.8.2 and working like a charm. Also installed on a windows 7 machine and working fine too. Only one thing i can't figure out. If i want to use a sweeper and want to put it in a track in the playlist, how to do that?

When i double click on the "empty" numbers, a browser opens and i can't find or select any file. I can only push the "start" and "end" button and "add" but nothing is there to be seen or select.

Did i missed something or just hitting the keyboard a little to hard? ;-)

It is possibble, this version doesn't emancipate the songs after the time is passed which I set at Rotation Rules?? Yesterday I noticed the RadioDJ playing only jingles... all songs were colored "played"... after I reset the playcounts, the program played songs again. I have 3000 songs, and the artist separation is 120 minutes, song separation is 240 minutes so, it's impossible to run out from songs. How can this happened?

Have you checked to see if the Database needs a repair? Only reason I could think of as to why this is happening.

Well... I followed the instructions from here: http://www.radiodj.ro/tutorials/video-tutorials/how-to-repair-a-mysqlmariadb-corrupted-database-using-heidisql.html

But the problem is the same.... I set the song separation to 240, the artist separation to 120 minutes, but after 240 or 120 minutes, the songs doesn't change from "red". :(

And this problem is at 3 different PC-s, 3 different RadioDJ.

Any other idea?

I'm testing this right now and i will come with the results.

//Later:

I set artist/track repeat time to 5 minutes to avoid waiting hours for the result and after 5 minutes the tracks were not marked with red anymore.
Do you use the realtime refresh option of the song search plugin?

Providing you have error logging enabled in RadioDJ.

Start>Control Panel> Administrative tools> Event viewer> Windows Logs> and look for any RadioDJ related errors.

"Subcategory ID: 6 cannot provide enough tracks to complete the rotation! (too large value for artist/track separation?) Rotation item was skipped!."

It's impossible.... we have 1500 / 1200 & 3000 tracks at 3 different RadioDJ and the artist separation is 120, track separation is 240 minutes, so it's impossible to could find playable tracks!

The thing that pops into my mind is one mistake a lot of people make. When digitizing tracks don't forget the "01"and so on to remove and only have the artist an track. If in a database tracks are imported and they are named like "01 Bruce-springsteen_-_i`m-on-fire" and the next track is called "01 spin-doctors_-_Two-princes" that will be a problem because once a track "01" is played, it will mark all the other "01" tracks as not playable.

So even though you know what the track is and you can find it on the harddrive, it can give you a lot of problems.

Before i forget: THANKS MARIUS!

Running RadioDJ now for  www.radio251.nl (http://www.radio251.nl) in the studio and as a radio automation with complete studio switching and silence detection.

The only thing i found out is that there is a second delay when going live and listen on the RadioDJ output. I noticed that it takes care of the audio processing so we solved it by just listen to the TOTH and after the first track is running from the studio, we switch back to desk monitoring. Not a real big problem if you know this ;-)

Hello,

I have had an issue since 1.7.x (pre-1.7.7) and finally updated to 1.8.2, including the 1.7.7 database update, and I am still having the top 3 sound card entries showing up as blank, despite having worked in previous versions fine.

I started a new thread in the 1.7+ forum, and haven't had a chance to read if anything has been posted there...

More details here:  Since the top 3 drop boxes ALWAYS start out blank if i close and restart RDJ, and I get an unhandled exception if i drop the boxes and select the only enabled sound card channels and then select close or Cancel buttons, but not the red X window close button, I wonder what changed after RDJ 1.7.2?

Now I have an additional problem after updating to RDJ 1.8.2 :  The some encoder plugin doesn't show up or function now.

I don't see it in the Options Plugins menu for some encoder now, and I see Notes and Online Requests now showing up on the right side of the main RDJ window.

I really hope I don't have to do a fresh install.. I backed up the database, backed up all of the XML files in the root and plugins folder, and even tried restoring the plugins folder set.  I never updated the XML files in the root folder because instructions said not to.

My biggest reason for not wanting to do a fresh install AGAIN, after migration to Windows 7 64 bit, is because this machine is used for a real 100KW FM station, and we have about 5500 songs in about 30 categories and at least 25 genres, and it is already scheduled and autodj works PERFECT.

RE: unhandled exception when selecting soundcard and channel :  The way around it is to allow the exception, select continue, then the ONLY way to have the setting stick for just the current session is to use the window X button (after the exception and choosing continue)... however I don't get why upon restarting RDJ the first 3 sound card and channel options are blank again.  For some reason the settings don't survive restarting RDJ.

For the record, the sound card is an Audio Science ASI-5644 with all auxilliary channels disabled in windows (only makes it easier to select channel pair 1), and the onboard sound disabled as well.

It worked previous to the update to 1.7+ versions without any problems except the rotation stopped one category in Nov 2014 out of 3 categories selected in a pattern.  (New Music, Heavy rotation, Classic, Liner, New Music, Classic, Liner) where repeat rules are on for everything but liners (60 liners) and Repeat rules are 1 hour for artist and 2 hours for song, with plenty of music in each category.  No category has under 250 songs, which guarantees there is enough New Music that most won't repeat more than 2x a day. (which means no song should be unable to be scheduled as Least Recently Played with repeat rules enabled)

For the record, some of the liners do repeat at random times, but they are only set as random scheduled, which is understandable.  Wish I could have a single category (Liners) that have different repeat rules, specifically a shorter 15 minute no repeat rule... but I understand Marius is busy enough with more important things.

The upgrade to 1.8.2 FIXED the broken Category not ever scheduling since November 2014, even after resetting playcounts and priority and selecting Repair Database.

The only things I care about now are the some encoder plugin and RDJ remembering my selection of soundcard and channel.

Right now if a forced Windows Update causes a reboot RDJ comes back up inoperable telling me there is no sound card selected... and I have to log in remotely to do the temporary fix of changing settings, hitting continue after the exception, then using the Red close X on the settings window... good until the next reboot or restart of RDJ.

I need to replace a couple batteries in the UPS for that system... (caused 2 reboots in the last 6 months while I was out of the area)

Thankfully I have Team Viewer on the system, and on my phone, so I can fix it fairly fast when it happens.

RE: Silence detector / auto switch  :   I have one too, but I haven't made the cable for the backup RDJ machine that has an unbalanced output But I do use it's alarm output to trigger the telemetry to email me instantly after 4 seconds of silence.  Going to make that cable tomorrow, or use a Henry Matchbox to convert to balanced audio.

Marius:  I wanted to specifically thank you for all you have done, and especially for the new layout.  Looks really nice, works, and is easier to use than the old one that had big buttons everywhere.  We have Audio Vault @ $8,500, and I still prefer RDJ on the same exact hardware/OS. (Yes, I did disable Audio Vault 100%, including it's watchdog, and all was golden until I updated past 1.6.x)

Not sure what changed... I did have 1.7.4 installed, and at least the some encoder plugin worked flawlessly, even if there was an issue with it not scheduling the New Music category. (I used Events to insert them 4x an hour once I realized the Rotation wasn't working right, and that was a workable patch)

Now I have Rotations working without me changing anything, and some encoder isn't working or showing up... oh well, I can use BUTT externally.

I am off to see what, if anything, was posted in reply to my previous thread in the 1.7+ forum.

Still happier with RDJ than so called REAL Radio Automation systems like Simian or Audio Vault (FLEX / Espresso)...

I love this forum, the software, and how much better we sound than all of the competition (in regards to 1/3 second cross fading, and no dead air when RDJ is on duty).

I have had to manually set fade points on very very few songs.  On less songs than on Audio Vault, and it is easier to do in RDJ.

So much for a "Quick Reply!"

(Edit because reading http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=7703.0  solved my issue. All UPGRADE instructions should reference when one also needs to update their some encoder portion, because instructions say noting about also requiring new files not packaged with newer versions of RDJ -  DJGaryBaldy: I hope in the future when an upgrade of RDJ requires a new some encoder plugin that you will remind Marius to add something to the upgrade instructions referencing either a link to your newest article and download links, or actual instructions. BTW: What stops Marius from also hosting links to the latest required some encoder instructions on your site? (links, not the actual files))

OK something odd happened to me the other day, IE last week. I have had RDJ running 24/7 with no reboots other than Windows Updates. But otherwise it has been perfect. Then I got this integer or something like that error. Would not load any of the plugins at all. Would not even load the DB. I wish I could have gotten a screen cap of the error. So I had to reinstall RDJ and then it worked, but then mysql DB completely crashed. So I could not access anything or save anything. Thank God I had backups to load. If not would have been a few long long days. So not sure what the heck happened but figured I should post before I forgot what it all was.

This sounds like a "security" issue. Windows 7 is more advanced with security settings and i can imagine that when Windows have some updates, it could reset some of the passwords saved in Windows. Then it could happen that when at first something works and suddely it stops because it can't acces because the password or read and write rights are changed.

This is why i don't do updates very often and when i do, i make sure to have everything backuped so when something happens, i can put an image back and reload the DBase backup.

What you can try is see if all the plugins are there and see what the "rights" are. If it is read only, change them back to full rights. Same goes up for the database, check what files the database needs and change it to full rights. See what the rights are of the RadioDJ folder and change that to full rights. It might work but my experience was that it sometimes doesn't work. Than i did a reinstall of the RadioDJ and the database entry and imported the DBase backup back into the database.

I hope it works for you.

No, you don't need to download version 1.7.7. All database upgrade files are included in 1.8.2 zip file. Look in "RadioDJ\Setup\Sql\" folder. The file you need is named "1.7.7 UPDATE FROM  1.7.6.sql".

Greetings
I have version 1.7.6 and im trying to get to the newest 1.8.2  I have tried to do this first as stated in the forum on version 1.7.7

B. DATABASE UPDATE PROCEDURE

    Backup your database before anything!

    1. Open "Database Setup.exe" (located in Setup folder);
    2. Select "Database Utils" tab and press "SELECT UPDATE FILE" button;
    3. Select "1.7.7 UPDATE FROM  1.7.6.sql" from Sql folder. (Usually: RadioDJ\Setup\Sql);
    4. Confirm the action and you're done.

WHEN I DO THAT AND GO TO UPDATE THIS IS WHAT I GET.

1.6.5.8 RC7 - UPDATE FROM RC4 AND OLDER.sql
1.6.5.8 RC7 - UPDATE FROM RC4 AND OLDER.sql
database.sql

THERE IS NO OPTION TO APPLY AN UDATE FROM 1.7.6 TO 1.7.7

HOW CAN I UPDATE  from v1.7.6 to v1.8.2  I cant seem to figure that out.  Thank you kindly for your help

Your work on this software is definitely too good... So good that we can't wait for a new upgrade. Can you tell us why it is a so long time since the release of 1.8.2 without any new version ?
Thanks a lot :)

Well i think when a product is (almost) perfect, you don't have to change anything. Something that other software builders do all the time witch result in something that isn't working again ;-)

Google translate.

You can try to put your artist seperation higher. The more songs you got, the higher the artist seperation should be. Got to:
"Options" > "Options" > 3rd tab "AutoDJ" > "Rotation rules". Set "Don't play same track for" 3/4 of your database ( Example: 8000 titels : 4496 minutes to seperate )
Set "Don't play same artist for" the amount you want. ( in my case 191 minutes )
Set "V" in the "Artist seperation".
Set "V" in "Reset subcategories".
As an option you can set "On play reduce priority by" an amount you like in the 4th tab. ( "Other settings" ) In my case this is 0.7 witch work very nice for me.

One important thing is that your tracks should have an artist and track title! If your tracks are named "track1" and so on, this will byte you and won't work very well. Then you have to lower the artist seperation with the problem a track will be played when you don;t want it. Also have the same name for the same song! A track with the name "Song1" and the same track also in the same directory with the name "Song 1" will be treated as seperate tracks! This way the same song can be played right after each other.

I hope you understand all this, i can't translate it so sorry in advance. Good luck!

Greetings
I am currently running version 1.7.6  I never updated to version 1.7.7 when it came out. I was looking for that version to update to and then go from 1.7.7 to 1.8.2  I was told I didn't have to do that just get the latest version and take the database update file from the sql folder in 1.8.2  Well I did that and tried to do a database update and got a error message.

Access to the path *C:\Program Files
(x86)\Radio DJ \settings_database xml* is denied.

I followed method 1 from 1.8.2  I could be wrong but it would seem that I need to install 1.7.7 and then go to 1.8.2 but I cant find a a version of 1.7.7
That's as far as I got. can you tell me where I went wrong please and thank you

It looks like your antivirus or windows UAC is preventing radiodj to access its files. In this case the best option is to run the program as administrator.

I just tried that and it didn't work unfortunately. I made a backup from the 1.7.6 version I am  currently  still using and I have version 1.8.1 which is the one I get the error messages on. Version 1.7.6 runs well I just can't get the new version to work

Could be 2 things. The one thing is see of the password en root login in RadioDJ 1.82 is correct. If not. that is the problem. Sometimes Windows 7  lock some files because of security. Start the Database updater program as "administrator". This could work too. Also keep in mind if you update that the other RadioDJ should be shut down, otherwise the Database entries are still in use and you can't use the Database updater.

If i forget something please add, i still don't know everything ;-)

Is RadioDJ in there?
If so, make it's one folder on C:\ like C:\RadioDJ.

Hey guys thank you for your help....I believe this may have been the solution I moved the folder out of one folder to the Programs folder so it seems like everything is working now.  ill let it run for a bit and see if it holds up by tomorrow.

As for the database I still get that error message but somehow that is working too it would seem.  ill let it run for a few days and see.   Thank yu again

Great Job Marius and the rest! These are the moments that i am feeling a little as the fifth wheel. I know a lot about studio building, using mixing consoles and radio automation but nothing about programming. Otherwise i would help werever i can!

Just for some info, RadioDJ still running with nog problems at all on a Q4 with Stereotool processing. Another station is running 4 editions on one P4 3 ghz ht computer! Still going strong at allmost 200 days without restart. Stable? ( How dare you to doubt that  :hihi: )

I think we all love radiodj software!
Marius is doing such a great job on making this software the best!
For me i have set up a radiostation near me for someone i know well. and am making my own station at home. Not have plans to go online. i don't want to be internetradio but i wait few years till I know the frequency in my hometown gets free.
As i said we all love radiodj and if i can do anything to help i would love to be involved in make this software even better.
No I am not good in php but i have a really good testsetup here and able to test 24hours a day.
If marius or anyone ever need someone to test new software or plugin I would love to be the helping hand!
I am working as technician for huge concerts/ festivals and tv shows so i am also pretty technical in all kind of ways.
My hobbies except radio is making websites in workdpress..
If someone ever need my hepl.. please let me know I would love to be testing all kinds of plugins or software for u.

Hi Guys

We use RDJ across 2 stations and 4 studios.... every day i have "broadcast engineers" in "community" operations that swear by Station Playlist *cough* when the audio drivers sound like a truck hitting a wall and well Station Playlist is freely available software repackaged into a commercial paid version and its crap in every aspect

I want to thank Marius and the team for all the work they are doing!!!

Can not wait for the new version. I would like to see RadioDK take on NexGen by RCSoft now that would be sick!

I have been playing with another radio automation software called playitlive, they now have a drag and drop in for voicetracking, you just select from a list and drop right where you want to announce a song, then it creates a random audio file, any chance of something like that in the future on radio dj?

Hi

I am attempting to update from 1.7.0.0 to 1.8.2. I have choose method 2 as shown at the bottom of the page. My question is concerning step 4. Once inside of the Database Utils, there is no "1.7.7 UPDATE FROM  1.7.6.sql"? The only 4 options I have listed are:

1.6.5.8 RC7 – UPDATE FROM RC4 AND OLDER.sql
1.6.5.8 RC7 – UPDATE FROM RC6.sql
database.sql

BIG FAT WARNING: You cannot update from older versions than 1.7.7 without applying the database update from the 1.7.7 topic. This version is only compatible with RadioDJ v1.7.7,  v1.7.8, v1.7.9, v1.8.0 and v1.8.1!

Thank you for your help

If I was the writer I'd name it version 3. Because people have been anticipating so long for the next version, and that will start again when the next version is released that I'd just skip 1 or 2 version numbers and give them the "next anticipated version" right away...

What's in a version number... nothing. Except that it differentiates the previous version from the latest one....  :D

Yes a number is a number :-)

But when you set the first number higer, it is usually updated UI and many new features., if you update the 2nd digi and so on, then it usually are bugfixes and minor new functions.

Oh well, it was just the get a feeling if it was "near" or... next year :-)

I'm looking forward to a new release.  I was only thinking this morning when I got up there has not been a new update for a long time.  I see there is no Beta area on this forum anymore, is this a new strategy by Marius? I know before to get to 1.8.2 he had a lot of heartache and time spent getting to that stage.

It seems like this time all the hard work is being done offline then it will just be then released to the world?

Thanks once again for RDJ, gave me a passion again for Radio and using my PC again :).

Mart.

I'm sure that if the new version is indeed paid, then we would of heard from Marius by now about that.

As to the timeline, I've heard just a couple more weeks.

The new version will have some paid features, but the free features available will be much more that in current version (1.8.2), not to mention comparing to other free programs around...  ;)
So if you was able to do your job until now with the current features, i bet that you won't be disappointed in the future.

I think Marius has not only made it clear that a new version is coming, but also mentioned that the free version will still exist. I think that It's been about time he introduced some way to support the project in the first place. All things considered I imagine the price will probably not be too high.

Also USD and EUR have never been so close in ratio. Not that I can remember... They now almost 1:1.

Agreed that there should be a paid version. I was just wondering how much it would cost. I wasn't sure what currency Marius uses exactly.

I also agree that should be a paid version and, as Filip83 stated, there is not a great difference between dollars and euros

I'm sure whatever currency its in it will still be worth paying £££ for...

I imagine that the paid for features will be mainly aimed at the commercial sector. Just a hunch.

The free version already has some cool features a few more won't hurt :-)
